Creative Activities for Mother's Day

In the days leading up to Mother's Day, we have lots of great activities to keep the kids engaged while turning their minds to giving gratitude to mum. Choose from a range of activities that use materials and items you would typically find around your home.

Bouquet of Roses

Directions:
  • Supplies: Paper towel, watercolours, straws, medicine droppers, ice cube tray, scissors and tape
  • Prep: Pour your choice of watercolours in an ice cube tray, diluting with water, then cut half pieces of paper towel
  • Create: Fill medicine droppers from tray paint and fully cover the paper towel pieces, then let dry completely
  • Assemble: Cut paper towels into two long strips, crumple and then pat them back flat before folding the long edge and taping it to a a straw, and finally rolling it to form the flower, taping down the end.

Pancake Charcuterie Experience

Directions:
  • Prep: Decide all that will go on your board, pancakes, waffles, sliced french toast
  • Create: Add bananas, different berries, whipped cream and syrup to dress up the board

Directions:

  • Prep: Find a while pillow case and sharpies
  • Plan: Sketch the design on paper with pencil
  • Create: Draw your design on the pillowcase with sharpies

Morning Mug Messages

Directions:
  • Prep: Find seldom used white mugs, then wash and clean
  • Create: Get creative with bright colours that will contrast, then write a message to mom
  • Bake: Put the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F

Inspiring Colourful Keepsakes

Directions:
  • Prep: Heat the oven to 350°F and then use cooking spray on an oven safe bowl
  • Create: Pour beads into the bowl and push down and all around
  • Bake: Place the bowl on a pan in the oven for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool completely
