Go for a short walk in your neighbourhood, and every time your child finds an item, take a picture! A follow up activity can be making a fun slideshow at home with all the pics!
Items:
Stop Sign
Traffic Light
Red Door
White rock
Blue car
Fire hydrant
Fence
Amazon box
Street sign
Leaf
Hearts/Rainbows on Windows
Garbage Bin
(Feel free to add your own!)

IMPORTANT- Please make sure to respect all Social Distancing rules while taking part in this Treasure Hunt. Stay close to your immediate family only, no need to make any physical contact with any of the items founds on the Treasure Hunt. Bring hand sanitizer to stay clean throughout the Hunt and of course wash hands as soon as you enter your house!
COMPETITIVE VARIATION: Compete with another family (they could be in their own neighbourhood, anywhere in the world!), pick a start time and see who can finish first!

RAINY DAY/'QUARANTINE' VARIATION:
Instead of walking around, hop in a car and drive around the neighbourhood looking for items, with no need to ever get out of the car!  Feel free to change up the items you are searching for to reflect what you may find in your neighbourhood. A recent Driving Treasure Hunt that a Northland family completed included places like 'a bridge, Starbucks, a tunnel, a Police car, train tracks, someone walking their dog'

This activity is brought to you by Camp Northland, an overnight camp based in Haliburton, Ontario with a 100+ year tradition of creating memorable summer experiences for children and teenagers from Southern Ontario.
