Peanut Butter Bird Feeder

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper or crafting roll
  • Natural peanut butter
  • Plastic knife or Popsicle stick
  • String (about 12” long)
  • Paper plate
  • Small bowl of bird seeds
  • Scissors

Spring is a great time for bird watching and you can do that right in your own yard. Working with your children to create these easy and fun peanut butter bird feeders.

How to assemble:

  • Step 1: Using the plastic knife or Popsicle stick spread a thick layer of peanut butter onto the toilet paper roll. Make sure the layer is thick or the seeds will not stick well.
  • Step 2: Pour the bird seeds onto the paper plate and spread out evenly. Pressing gently, roll the toilet paper tube around the seeds, to ensure that as many seeds stick to the peanut butter. Using your hands, pick up seeds and stick where there are holes.
  • Step 3: Cut your string or twine and run in through the hole of the roll and tie a knot at the top.

Your bird feeder is now ready to hang on a trip or pole for the birds to enjoy.

Keep your eyes open for visitors to your feeder and if you can, capture them with a photo.
