Make your own Noisemakers

What you need:

  • Empty plastic water bottles
  • Different items to fill the bottles with - like beans, buttons, jingle bells, ribbon, large beads or coloured rocks.
  • Stickers, ribbon, washi tape
  • Hot glue gun (adult supervision)

Noisemakers can be used all year round to make music, but on New Years Eve, when the clock strikes midnight, how about your family celebrating at home with homemade noisemakers of their own.

They are fun and easy to assemble and once they are ready, your kids will blow the roof off!

How to assemble:

  • Step 1: While waiting for the ball to drop, set up a decorating station with bowls filled with buttons, beans, bells, whatever you collected to put inside the noisemakers.
  • Step 2: Ensure that the plastic bottles are washed and dried with the labels taken off. Each child can decorate the outside of their bottle with stickers making it festive and personal. Once that is completed, they will fill their bottle about 3/4 full. Make sure to leave room for shaking the noisemakers.
  • Step 3. Requires adult assistance. Once the bottle is 3/4 full, using the hot glue gun, adults will apply a bead of glue around the inside of the bottle lid so it will be glued in place to avoid the bottle opening once the party gets started.

Once everyone has a noisemaker, get ready to ring in the new year at home in style.
