Mindfulness Colouring

What you need:

  • Colouring books or printed sheets off the internet in a variety of themes and designs so that your child will have something they feel comfortable to choose from.
  • A variety of colouring mediums: markers, coloured pencils, crayons depending on the age and stage of your child.
  • A space for your child to spread out and be creatve

We know that mindfulness practice is a very important part of our lives regardless of our age or stage in life. This activity can be done as adult with your children, your children on their own or even yourself on your own.

All you need are some colouring books or colouring pages you can easily print off the internet, and crayons, coloured pencils, markers, whatever creative art supplies you have in your home.

How to set this up for success:

  • Set up in a place that will allow you to gain focus as you colour. Ensure that your children have enough space between them (or you) so that they will focus on themselves.
  • Have them take a few deep breaths before getting started and ensure they are seating comfortably.
  • Offer your children a few different images or colouring books to choose from that connect with them.
  • Remind your children that this is for themselves and there are no guidelines. Colour what and how it feels right to you in the moment.

Remember that mindfulness does not have judgement. There is no right or wrong. If the tree is green and the leaves are brown, that is okay.
