Apple Nachos

  • Apples – Use your favorite apples, green or red. Sweet red apples are great, as well as tart green apples will be great too!
  • Lemon or lime – This is optional, but will help to keep the apples from browning.
  • Peanut butter – Use creamy or crunchy. Also, Almond Butter, or if there are allergy concerns sunflower butter or other substitute (even maple syrup over top would be wonderful).
  • Chocolate chips – You can opt for mini chocolate chips like I used here. Also, cacao nibs or carob chips are another option.
  • Shredded coconut – use unsweetened or toasted would be delicious too. This can be optional if you are not a fan of coconut.
  • Cinnamon – a dash adds a nice warm flavor and pairs well with everything!

The fall is perfect for apple picking. Other than pies, and apple sauce, here is a fun way to use the apples you have picked and brought home.

This recipe is quite simple, sliced apples drizzled with a nut butter and then sprinkle options of your choice.

How to assemble:

  • Step 1: Add thinly sliced apples to a small bowl with lemon juice and toss to coat.
  • Step 2: On serving tray spread out apple slices in thin layer.
  • Step 3: Melt almond butter in microwave until runny, about 1 minute. Drizzle over apples.
  • Step 4: Top with almond, unsweetened coconut and chocolate chips.

Leftovers (if there are any, can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days).

Serve and enjoy
